Meeting in Montpellier with the partners from UCAD (Dakar)

The steering committee of November 23 provided a good opportunity to prepare the practical involvement of UCAD (Senegal) in the CultiVar project. Part of the pedagogical products already in place in Montpellier should be adapted for an exportation in Senegal. Some training sessions may also be proposed to the researchers from Senegal.

Two months after the start of school, a first milestone with the students/fellows

Late October, the eight students sponsored by the CultiVar project were invited for a meeting with the following main objectives : - verify their integration after 2 months, - detect their possible difficulties and - help them to identify their future Master internships

In early September, started the first interventions animated by researchers within the CultiVar project. Some of them created innovative training activities, highly appreciated by the students.

The first cohort of Master students of the CultiVar project has arrived !

Three Senegalese, three Vietnamese and two French students recently arrived in Montpellier to follow Master courses (first-year). They were officially welcomed by the management team of the project CultiVar on the 2nd of September 2016.

The EUCARPIA conference "Crop Diversification in a Changing World, mobilizing the green gold of genetic resources" aims to increase our understanding of the challenges we face as a community of stakeholders in plant genetic resources (PGR) conservation and sustainable use, and of opportunities for transformation in the PGR use system.

Launch of CultiVar's project website

The project CultiVar was officially born in September 2015, when Agropolis Fondation, the French foundation for Agricultural Sciences and Sustainable Development, decided to fund it. The website of CultiVar has just been launched ! The site is presented both in English and in French (click on the flag)

Study on benefits of plant breeding published, March 2016

On 15th March the Plants for the Future ETP (European Technology Platform) launched in Brussels the publication of their independent report on the importance of plant breeding entitled ‘The economic, social and environmental value of plant breeding in the European Union’.
